Military Show & Talk | 11am
What was life really like for a Roman soldier? Find out as we take you through their training, kit, and battle formations – and even invite you to swear your allegiance!
Crime and Punishment Talk | 12pm
Discover the brutal justice of ancient Rome, from public executions to gruesome punishments and the laws that ruled daily life.
Slave Auction & Talk | 1:30pm
Step into the past as we recreate a Roman slave auction. Learn about the different roles slaves had and the harsh realities they faced.
Gladiator Show & Talk | 2:30pm
Gladiators, fight! Hear about the deadly games of ancient Rome, help decide the fate of a criminal, and even try your hand at gladiatorial combat – audience participation highly encouraged!
Roman myths and stories– performances in The Guildhall at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 2pm and 3pm. Tickets £2.50 per child, Adults £1

This interactive re-enactment will encourage audience participation and spectators are encouraged to dress up. A pop-up shop selling Roman souvenirs and merchandise will be available throughout the event.
Legio Secunda Augusta(opens new window) is one of Europe’s pre-eminent Roman re-enactment groups and encompasses the full range of military and civil life – from artillery, to slaves, medical staff and music. They provide an unforgettable live experience for anyone witnessing a re-enactment.
