DESCRIPTION:Inspired by St. Wilfrid’s historic journey from Selsey to Chichester\, Wilfrid will lead young explorers on an adventure through the Cathedral\, uncovering treasures and fascinating history. \nFamilies are invited to seek out artefacts\, such as flowers pressed by a soldier between the pages of a Bible in the trenches of WWI and 800-year-old rings worn by Bishops during the 12th century. Led by Wilfrid the Seal\, children and their adults will delight in uncovering the rich and vibrant tales behind these historic items. \nIdeal for all ages\, for younger children there is an eye spy game\, and everyone will enjoy making (and eating) the 18th century rice pudding recipe once back home. \nOnce you’ve completed your trail don’t forget to head to our shop or speak to a member of staff to retrieve your sticker prize! \nThe trail can be collected from the Visitors’ Desk or at points around the Cathedral and will be running from 7th April – 15th November 2025.

DESCRIPTION:A new summer sculpture trail has launched in Chichester city centre with a code breaking twist. The Chichester950 Code Breaker Trail invites families\, locals and visitors to become history detectives\, uncovering historic facts while exploring eight striking sculptures across the city. \nCreated to celebrate Chichester Cathedral’s 950th anniversary\, the trail has been designed and built by students from Chichester College\, who are also marking their 60th anniversary this year. Each sculpture is inspired by the symbols featured in the Chichester950 anniversary branding. \nHow to take part:\nDownload the map below and follow the trail to discover a letter at each of the eight locations. Once all eight letters have been found\, you can use the trail’s code breaker to reveal a mystery word. \nThen just snap a picture of the entry page of your trail with the mystery word and email it to office@chichesterbid.co.uk by 31 August 2025. The lucky winner will be chosen at random and notified via email. DESCRIPTION:Design and build your own 3D relief painting inspired by Mary Fedden’s Still Life with Artichoke (1972). \nArtist Educator Louise Dennis will lead this Summer Art Club workshop\, using one of the Gallery’s most popular paintings\, Mary Fedden’s Still Life with Artichoke (1972)\, as inspiration for crafting your own relief painting using recycled materials and Modroc modelling materials. Modroc is bandage infused with plaster- it dries quickly\, can be moulded in many ways and is a brilliant material to use for creating artworks with a 3-D effect. After construction we will use paints and collage materials to add colour and really bring our artwork to life! \nWhat is Summer Art Club? \nThis is a series of studio workshops for children\, exploring a range of media in a fun and friendly environment. These workshops are led by experienced artist educators who specialise in working with children and young people. They are designed for children aged 7+ with a selection of dates across the summer holidays. \nParents or carers are not required to stay for these workshops\, although you are welcome to do so should you prefer. \nPlease provide a packed lunch for your child. \nThere are six sessions to choose from. DESCRIPTION:Be inspired by everything from famous portraits to church gargoyles to mould a face in clay\, adding lots of features to create a truly unique portrait! \nJoin Artist Educator Helen Friend for this Summer Art Club workshop exploring clay techniques. You will start by visiting the Seeing Each Other: Portraits of Artists exhibition at the Gallery. This will inspire us to start drawing faces\, thinking about the different shapes of each feature (eyes\, nose\, mouth) and all of the details on the face\, such as eyelashes\, eyebrows and even moustaches and beards! \nWe will be using hand-building techniques and clay modelling tools to help us create our wonderful air dry clay portraits. Adding lots of detail to our faces\, such as crazy hairstyles or magnificent hats will make them look even more fabulous! \nWhat is Summer Art Club? \nThis is a series of studio workshops for children\, exploring a range of media in a fun and friendly environment. These workshops are led by experienced artist educators who specialise in working with children and young people. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to create a series of beautiful images using a printing technique called collagraph*. \nArtist Educator Helen Friend will lead you through this Summer Art Club workshop\, exploring patterns\, shapes and forms from works in our collection and using them as inspiration to create our own unique design for a collagraph block. We might choose to arrange our patterns and shapes to resemble a face\, or a landscape\, or we might want to make a wonderful decorative pattern out of them. \nOnce our collagraph blocks are made\, we will then print them onto a range of different papers\, using specialist printing inks\, to create wonderfully unique works of art. \n* A collagraph is a collage of materials of various textures glued on to a printing plate.
