A spectacular free Lantern Trail is launching in Chichester city centre on 15 August with the chance to win tickets to see The Famous Five: A New Musical, based on Enid Blyton’s books, at Chichester Festival Theatre.
Running from 15 – 31 August, the trail will be available on the LoyalFree App, which is completely free to download and features a range of trails, offers and city information. The trail has been organised by Chichester BID in partnership with Chichester Festival Theatre and Culture Spark.
Helen Marshall, Chair and CEO of Chichester BID said: “It’s wonderful that, in partnership with our friends at Chichester Festival Theatre, we are able to showcase some of the beautiful lanterns that were created by local schools and community groups for the Carnival of Lights, which took place earlier this summer. With costs rising for everyone, we are delighted to be able to offer local and visiting families another free activity to enjoy doing this summer here in Chichester city centre so they can still treat the kids to a bite to eat, ice cream or other special something whilst they’re here.”
Elspeth Barron, Projects Co-ordinator at Chichester Festival Theatre said: “Over 1,500 people took part in the Carnival of Lights, carrying a sea of lanterns through Chichester city centre as part of 2022’s Culture Spark celebrations. We are delighted to be helping Chichester BID round off its Summer of Celebrations with this special Lantern Trail, giving visitors to the city the chance to see these beautiful handmade creations which celebrate local stories and the natural world around us.”
To take part, participants simply have to follow the trail using the LoyalFree App and scan the QR codes that will be in the windows of nine city businesses. Everyone who completes the trail will be entered into a prize draw to win a family ticket to see the exciting new musical The Famous Five at Chichester Festival Theatre plus the first three books in Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series from Waterstone’s Chichester.
