The Canopy on Crane Street
The Canopy on Crane Street is a vibrant outdoor performance space in the heart of the city centre. A flexible, open-air space designed to showcase live music, spoken word, theatre, community performance and more – during the summer months it transforms one of Chichester’s most characterful side streets into a dynamic cultural hub.
Created to animate the high street and champion local talent, The Canopy offers a fresh way to experience the city’s Northern Quarter. Running from June – September, the free pop-up performance area provides a welcoming space where creativity can flourish alongside independent shops, cafés and businesses on Crane Street.
The project received part-funding from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It has been led by Chichester BID, who also secured funding from Chichester City Council and a private landlord on Crane Street.
