Street Art trail on LoyalFree

| May 2021

Award-winning app LoyalFree was delighted to create an interactive digital trail for the much loved Chichester Street Art Festival in partnership with Chichester BID.

The Street Art Festival was originally created back in 2013 after a year of ‘secret’ planning. Artists flew in from all over the world and decorated many locations throughout the city with unique and eye-catching pieces of art. The festival, organised by local artist and sculptor Neil Lawson Baker (CEO of the National Open Art Competition) and curated by Richard Howard-Griffin of Street Art London, saw a number of street art murals being unveiled across the city.

The remaining artwork has now been turned into a digital trail on the LoyalFree app, allowing local residents and visitors to Chichester to easily find the 19 locations on an interactive map of the city.

The Street Art trail features extensive information about the artists themselves as well their vision and the inspiration for their masterpieces. There is a rich and diverse body of artwork, from the brightly coloured ‘Four Heads’ by Thierry Noir (the artist credited with being the first to paint the Berlin wall) to the simplicity of ‘The Girl and The EU Balloon’ by Jamie Scanlon (the artist known for reforming his life through art). The Chichester Street Art trail features artists influenced and inspired by a multitude of cultures.

Locals are encouraged to use the app’s new ‘Check in’ feature which allows app users to check in to each location with just one click, and see if they can visit them all! Start this interactive trail on the LoyalFree app and easily see where the next location is with the handy map and directions features. To take part simply log in on the LoyalFree app, head to the ‘Trails’ section and try it yourself – it’s completely free!

Chichester BID’s Client Relationship Manager, Mandy Medhurst said “Chichester BID is thrilled to see the Chichester Street Art Trail being brought to life on the LoyalFree app. The original event was a huge success for the city and this interactive trail will highlight the amazing street art to users for a long time to come. We feel that our interactive trails represent great reasons for app users to visit the city centre and participate in the local events”.

Chichester BID have more exciting trails in the pipeline, including the interactive Roman Relic Trail created in conjunction with The Novium Museum. The upcoming trail, created to help celebrate Roman Week, will provide a ‘treasure hunt’ for users to find Roman relics scattered across the city. This trail will go live in May and give app users the chance to win a fantastic local prize!
