As autumn’s crisp air rustles through the city and leaves fall from the trees, Chichester is preparing to offer delightful half-term experiences for families of all ages.

The Chichester Bird Trail, Friday 20th – Saturday 28th October

From Friday 20th to Saturday 28th of October, Chichester BID, in partnership with Chichester Cathedral, welcomes you to take part in a captivating family event culminating at the magnificent Peace Doves installation at the Cathedral, with the promise of a small prize for everyone at the end.

This free adventure takes you on a bird-themed exploration through Chichester’s city centre. Designed to celebrate the majestic Peace Doves installation at Chichester Cathedral, it promises an outdoor and indoor entertaining experience for families.

 

  • Bird Watching: As you explore the city centre, you’ll have the opportunity to spot Chichester’s feathered friends, some of which you may never have noticed before!
  • Chichester Library Activities: Along the trail, make a stop at Chichester Library for engaging family activities. It’s the perfect chance to warm up and get creative before setting off for the final part of the quest at Chichester Cathedral.
  • Prizes Await: While you explore, collect points, and if you gather enough, you’ll be awarded a prize at Chichester Cathedral where Peter Walker Sculptor’s awe-inspiring Peace Doves awaits.

Chichester Sloe Fair

Chichester’s historical Sloe Fair is set to return at Northgate car park on Friday 20th October. Open from 2 pm till late, the fair promises rides and stalls for the entire family to enjoy. After a day of fun and excitement, why not cap it off with a delightful dinner in the city at one of our many family-friendly restaurants?

Priory Park

Spend quality time in the picturesque Priory Park, where you can engage in games, kick up fallen leaves, or simply bask in the natural beauty. There’s also a fantastic children’s playground, designed for all ages.

Fun Under the Peace Doves

Chichester Cathedral has some fantastic activities lined up for you, including:

  • Saturday, October 21st (11am – 2pm): Enjoy a free drop-in art workshop, where you and your family can unleash your creativity and craft some amazing art pieces.
  • Monday, October 25th (10am): Join the storytelling session under the Peace Doves, where captivating seasonal tales will spark imaginations.
  • Friday, October 27th (11am – 2pm): Don’t miss The Big Draw Festival, a creative extravaganza for all ages. Unleash your artistic side and take part in this fun-filled festival.

On the 24th and 26th of October, young artists aged 7-11 are invited to unleash their creativity at Pallant House Gallery and be inspired by the iconic artwork “Love” by Peter Blake on Tuesday 24th or channel the artistic spirit of sculptor Barbara Hepworth on Thursday 26th.
